Moscow, April 10, Interfax - Russian President Vladimir Putin had congratulated Russia's Jewish community on the Passover holiday, the Kremlin press service said on Monday.
"This holiday is a reminder of the landmark event in the history of the Jewish people, their liberation from centuries of enslavement. Its ancient traditions are cherished and passed from one generation to another. The holiday takes the Jewish people back to the source and values of the vast cultural and spiritual legacy of Judaism, which continue to be universal for humanity as they are based on the eternal ideals of justice, kindness and care for fellow men," Putin said in his message.
"It is pleasing to see the active development underway in Russia's Jewish community. You are establishing new religious and educational centers, opening museums and exhibitions, and developing international contacts," the president said.
"The community is carrying out charity and educational activity, is making a weighty contribution to inter-ethnic peace in the country, and actively participating in education of the younger generation," Putin said.
