Russia faces Ukraine's resistance in returning St. Alexander representation in Jerusalem

Moscow, June 14, Interfax - Head of the Imperial Palestinian Orthodox Society Sergey Stepashin told about unexpected difficulties in returning to Russia St. Alexander representation in Jerusalem.

"Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel says that it a Ukrainian territory from the point of history," he said at his meeting with students of Sts Cyril and Methodius Church Doctorate in Moscow.

Stepashin said that "Israel has complicated legislation" that changes very often, and it also makes some difficulties, though "the representation is not Israel property."

In June 11, 2015, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree which instructs the Russian President's Administration to conduct necessary legal procedures on registering Russia's rights on St. Alexander Representation and St. Alexander Church in Jerusalem. However, Stepashin believes it cannot guarantee positive settlement of the question.
