Jehovah's Witnesses ask Supreme Court to reverse ruling declaring them extremists

Moscow, September 12, Interfax - The Jehovah's Witnesses religious organization has filed an appeal with the Russian Supreme Court against a ruling that labeled it extremist and banned its operation on Russian territory.

"The court received the legal complaint on September 11. The applicant has asked [the Court] to overturn the April 20 decision and reject the Justice Ministry's legal claims," a court official told Interfax.

The Jehovah's Witnesses have also asked for the ruling to be suspended pending the Supreme Court's decision.
