Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia decide to cooperate to promote tolerance, counterterrorism

Dushanbe, September 15, Interfax - Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia have reached an agreement to strengthen and develop cooperation in the sphere of religious relations.

Issues relating to cooperation "between the two friendly states in the sphere of religious relations" were discussed at the meeting between Tajikistan's Ambassador in Riyadh, Zarobiddin Kosimi, with the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call, and Guidance, Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al Ash-Shaikh, the Tajik Foreign Ministry's department of information, press, analysis, and foreign policy planning said in a statement.

"The participants spoke in favor of cooperation on issues relating to the promotion of tolerance, the prevention of the spread of extremist ideas, and countering terrorism. They emphasized their firm readiness and interest in strengthening and developing cooperation in all of these areas," the statement said.
