Moscow, November 20, Interfax - President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia addressed words of gratitude to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on his birthday.
"Birthday is a wonderful occasion to express gratitude for colossal contribution to developing interconfessional relations in Russia and for the firm position of the Russian Orthodox Church in opposing xenophobia and anti-Semitism in Russian society," Boroda said in his congratulations, published by Izvestia paper on Monday.
He said he was sure that all religious leaders would back up his words.
"All of us remember that Russian society has not always had such a high degree of inter-ethnic accord, and we understand how high is Patriarch Kirill's personal contribution to it," the Jewish leader said.
According to Boroda, the patriarch's work today focuses on protection of traditional values: family, bringing up children, relations among people.
"We see that today the Orthodox world is united by moral values, spiritual development, bright ideas and it shows that Orthodox believers love, trust and stick to their leader," Boroda believes.
