Moscow, November 24, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia urges to bring up people in decisive rejection of revolutions and revolts.
"The year of centennial commemoration (of revolution - IF) should bring us to positive result, to a certain understanding of the things that people should never do, no matter what the consequences are, and what lessons we should learn even from most tragic pages of our history," he said before the session of the Supreme Church Council.
The patriarch wished that "commemoration of these tragic events" could help us, first of all, the pastors "to cultivate in people categoric rejection of revolutions, civil conflicts, revolts, repressions and all the things that tear apart people's lives and throws the country back to the past."
According to Patriarch Kirill, for the Russian Orthodox Church the main event of the 20th century is heroism of new martyrs, who suffered for faith from Bolsheviks. Speaking about it, the primate regretted that this topic did not receive the attention, which it deserved.
