Moscow, November 29, Interfax - The theory that the Romanov family's execution had a ritualistic nature could lead to the incitement of inter-ethnic discord and bigotry, Federation Council member Lyudmila Narusova said.
"The theory of ritual murder which was voiced yesterday is, if you'll excuse me, already looking like incitement of inter-ethnic discord. We remember the 'Beilis trial' and the blood of Christian babies. I believe, speaking about a ritual murder on the grounds that Yurovsky, an ethnic Jew, was the chief executioner is already a return to, excuse me, some kind of bigotry," Narusova said at a meeting of the Federation Council Constitutional Legislation and State-Building Committee.
On Monday, Bishop Tikhon (Shevkunov), the secretary of the church commission dealing with the "Yekaterinburg remains," said that many members of the commission are convinced that the execution was a ritual murder.
