Police clear protesters from chancellery of head of Armenian Church

Yerevan, July 10, Interfax - Armenian police have cleared the grounds of the chancellery of the head of the Armenian Church at the Etchmiadzin Monastery from protesters demanding the resignation of Catholicos Karekin II of All Armenians.

An Interfax correspondent reports that the territory was also cleared of the tents put up in it.

Meanwhile, head of the New Armenia, New Patriarch initiative Karen Petrosyan said protesters don't intend to leave the territory of the monastery and will stay there until Karekin II steps down.

The chancellery of the Catholicos of All Armenians at the Etchmiadzin Monastery stopped its operations on July 6 when its building was taken over by protesters.
