Patriarch Kirill confident he will be allowed to visit Kiev for Christianization celebration in future - press secretary

Moscow, July 24, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia is certain it will be possible for him in the future to visit Kiev during the celebration of the Christianization of Kievan Rus' and pray together with millions of Ukrainians, the patriarch's press secretary priest Alexander Volkov said.

"Of course, the heart of the patriarch is grieving at his being unable in recent years to be in Kiev on these days and pray with multitudes of adherents of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. But he is confident that all this, like a wind over roof, will pass, and the time will come when the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church will again be able to visit Kiev on these days and pray with his flock," the priest told reporters on Tuesday.

For many years, the current patriarch attended the Christianization festivities in Kiev, "the heart of our Orthodoxy," the priest said.
