Kiev/Moscow, July 28, Interfax - Some 65,000 believers have participated in the religious procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the self-proclaimed Kiev Patriarchate marking the 1,030 anniversary of the Christianization of Kievan Rus in Kiev, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said on its Facebook account.
"As at 1 p.m., some 65,000 people have participated in the procession. The situation is calm and under control," Ukrainian First Deputy Interior Minister Sergey Yarovoy said.
Units of bomb disposal experts and canine handlers examined pilgrims' route in order to prevent provocations, he said.
Policemen, officers from the National Guard and the National Emergency Situations Service ensured security of believers.
