Moscow, August 21, Interfax - Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the country's Muslims on the Eid al-Adha Islamic holiday, which is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, the Kremlin press service said.
"Eid al-Adha appeals for kindness and justice, graciousness and piety, and also for a considerate and cordial attitude toward other people, fellow human beings. These high humanistic ideals form the solid foundation for people's moral and ethical upbringing," Putin said in his greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
It is important that today "the true values of Islam continue to serve as the groundwork of the spiritual life of the Muslim community of Russia," he said.
"They help unite people and follow the traditions of good neighborliness between representatives of different peoples, faiths and cultures which are deeply rooted in the history of our country," the president said.
