Moscow, March 25, Interfax - An international scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of former Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov's birthday will be held in Cairo in the fall, as was decided by participants in the forum on 'Ways to achieve inter-religious peace: The role of theologians, diplomats, and pubic figures' held in Moscow on Monday.
Cairo was the location of Primakov's first long-term assignment abroad in 1965. Primakov, later a prominent Orientalist, was then a correspondent of Pravda.
The Moscow and Cairo conferences have been organized by the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, the Foundation of Unity of Orthodox Peoples, and the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Oriental Studies.
The same organizers plan to hold an international scientific-practical conference in Syria this year to address the role of theology, interreligious cooperation, and public diplomacy in achieving peace in the country.
