Zelensky victory will reduce nationalism in Ukraine - Russian Jews

Moscow, April 22, Interfax - The Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FJCR) has said it is surprised by the massive voting for Vladimir Zelensky in Western Ukraine, where nationalist tendencies are traditionally strong, and said it sees this as an indication of common sense.

"To deviate from the eternal dilemma of whether it is good or bad to have Jews in power, I will say that over 60% of Westerners voting for Zelensky is not only surrealism, but real prioritization: nationalist rhetoric is no longer misleading anyone," Boruch Gorin, head of public relations at FJCR, said.

A total of 73.17% of voters opted for Zelensky in the second round of the election, according to information obtained after processing 95.06% of the electronic protocols. Incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko received 24.5% of the votes, the CEC said earlier.
