Moscow, May 16, Interfax - The question of the Dalai Lama's visit to Russia requires additional discussion, he is not banned from entering the country, President Vladimir Putin said.
At a plenary session of a media forum organized by the All-Russia People's Front, a journalist from Kalmykia asked Putin whether Russian authorities, which she said banned the Dalai Lama from entering the country, would allow him to visit Russia given his age.
"He is not banned from entering Russia," Putin said.
"We don't have that many Buddhists but we treat them all - Christians, Jews and Islam representatives - equally.
"We'll talk about it separately. There are countries with very many Buddhists and their relations with the Dalai Lama are not the best.
"Still, we'll think about it," Putin said.
