The Russian Church warns that Trump's taxes on Chinese goods may lead to crisis of Christian mission in the USA

*** Bible is mostly printed in China and then its is imported to the USA

Moscow, July 22, Interfax - The Russian Orthodox Church official believes that the trade war between China and the USA will negatively reflect on availability of Bible in the United States and English-speaking world in general.

"The taxes introduced by President Trump will hit not only Chinese economy, but also the Christian mission and not only in China, but in the United States," Metropolitan Hilarion said on air Church and the World program on Rossiya-24 TV-channel.

Due to his estimates, Trump's measures "may very seriously hit the Christian mission, the Christian education" and will make Bibles much more expensive: it will be necessary to invent new equipment for printing them as at the moment the USA lacks it.

"For this reason, the companies that are now involved in printing and spreading Bible express their concerns about it," the metropolitan explained.

He reminded that though China is an atheist state, major part of Bible copies are printed there, especially in English. From China it is imported to the USA and other countries of the English-speaking world.

According to the metropolitan, printing Bible is a rather specific work: usually it is a very thick book, which should be printed at very thin paper and at the moment Chinese printing offices are specialized on it.
