Moscow, January 27, Interfax - Well-known Moscow Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin died of an acute heart attack, an informed medical source told Interfax on Monday.
"Judging by the preliminary results of the autopsy, Father Vsevolod died of acute ischemic heart disease complicated by other diseases," the source said.
The priest died in the courtyard of the Church of St. Theodore the Studite at the Nikitsky Gate, where he served as father superior. According to eyewitnesses, the priest suddenly felt sick, was short of breath, and fell down, and an ambulance which arrived 15 minutes later pronounced him dead. Father Vsevolod was known to suffer from asthma throughout his life.
