Kyrgyz missionary contracts Covid-19 in Pakistan - Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry

Bishkek, March 23, Interfax - A citizen of Kyrgyzstan is among the people infected with Covid-19 in Pakistan, the press service for the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"A citizen of Kyrgyzstan, born in 1963, has been found among the people who have contracted the new Covid-19 coronavirus, as of March 22," the press service said.

According to initial information, he and four other Kyrgyz citizens have been engaged in missionary activities in Pakistan.

"These citizens are not registered with the consulate; they haven't sought assistance from the Kyrgyz embassy in Pakistan," the press service said.

According to the press service, the infected citizen has been hospitalized in Islamabad, and the other four Kyrgyz citizens have been quarantined.

According to the Kyrgyz Health Ministry, 14 people with coronavirus, aged between 25 and 80, have been registered in Kyrgyzstan as of March 23. A state of emergency was declared in Kyrgyzstan on March 22.
