Lighthouse as a church in the Crimea

Moscow, June 19, Interfax - An unusual church was opened in Alushta, the Crimea, last Sunday. The church is housed in a 50-meters high lighthouse.

The decision to turn a lighthouse into a church dedicated of all those lost in the sea was taken a year and a half ago. At present, major works are completed.

The Orthodox cross was erected on the roof of the building as the primary term for the liturgical life in it. Meanwhile, the lighthouse will continue to serve in its immediate capacity to light the way for all passing ships, Vesti TV programme reports.
