Moscow, October 28, Interfax - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov received on Friday Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo.
An Interfax correspondent reports that they are holding talks at the Foreign Ministry Mansion in Moscow.
Earlier the archbishop said that the Vatican considers the existing level of diplomatic relations with Russia too low-key and is ready to confer the missions of the two states the status of embassies.
The archbishop said that the present status of the missions is incommensurate with the importance the Holy See attaches to relations with Russia and the Vatican's position in the modern world
Russia and the Holy See are working on the issue of establishing full-scale diplomatic relations, Lajolo said.
