Ramzan Kadyrov's grandfather, who was a renowned Chechnya religious leader, deceased

Grozny, August 29, Interfax - Father of the first Chechnya president Ahmad Kadyrov and prominent Islamic leader Abdulhamid Kadyrov deceased.

An Interfax correspondent has reported from the Kadyrov native village that thousands of people, who learned about his death, are arriving to the village to express their condolences to Chechnya president Ramzan Kadyrov.

Head of the republic's presidential administration Abdulkahir Israyilov said, over ten thousand people could participate in the funeral procession.

He noted that people were coming from neighboring regions.

Kadyrov was over 90 years old. He is one of the most renowned republican religious leaders. Earlier, he was repeatedly repressed for his religious convictions. The Kadyrov family is famous for they never accepted communist ideology, studied Islam, and contributed to religious education. It is also known that no one from their family joined the Communist Party in the Soviet times.
