Russian Romeo scared Vatican

Rome, July 5, Interfax - An inscription in "a strange language" was found last Friday on the wall of Santa Scala Church in Rome.

According to the Corriere della Sera Italian paper, an unidentified vandal wrote curses and insults addressed to Pope Benedict XVI of Rome.

Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno on behalf of Rome's residents expressed solidarity to the Pontific. Cardinal Agostino Vallini, papal vicar of Rome in his turn criticized "offensive attacks against the Primate."

Later, when things simmered down, it turned out that the inscription is made in Russian and reads "I love you, Vera! (Russian girl name - IF)" and below in Latin letters is added "Vania. (Russian boy name - IF)"
