Moscow, August 3, Interfax - The Synodal Department for Church Charities and Social Service and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have agreed upon exchanging their experience.
The representatives of both organizations will be able to take a look at the welfare activity in Russia and the USA and the cooperation between the state and religious organizations, the Synodal Department website reports.
This agreement was reached at a meeting between Archimandrite Panteleimon (Shatov), Chairman of the Synodal Department, and Deputy Assistant Administrator for Europe & Eurasia Jonathan Hale.
Since 2006, USAID and the St. Dimitry Sisterhood of Nurses in Moscow have been working together under the program for supporting initiatives of religious organizations to prevent HIV/AIDS outbreak in the Russian Federation.
USAID is the independent government agency providing US economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide.
