Monument to John Paul II to be set up in Baku

Baku, April 2, Interfax - Monument to the previous Pope of Rome John Paul II will be set up near the Catholic church in Baku, local Catholic leader Fr. Vladimir Fekete told Interfax-Religion on Monday.

According to him, the monument will open on May 27 to honor the tenth anniversary of the Pontific’s visit to Baku. Honorary guests from Vatican and Europe are expected.

The monument is made by an Italian Sculptor and is a present of the Slovak Catholic Church.
