Chicago, April 27, Interfax - The Buddhists of Kalmykia have invited the Dalai Lama to pay a visit to Kalmykia.
"I met with the Dalai Lama today at the Nobel Prize winners' summit and gave him the Kalmyk Buddhists' invitation to pay a visit to the republic," FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov told Interfax.
"The Buddhists are inviting the Dalai Lama to sanctify Elista's Central Buddhist Temple. The Dalai Lama put the first stone in the foundation of that temple during his visit to Kalmykia in 2004," Ilyumzhinov said.
He also said the Dalai Lama has invited him to visit his residence in India on May 7 to discuss the date of the visit.
"The Dalai Lama reiterated that he wants to visit Russia very much," Ilyumzhinov said.
