Moscow, May 22, Interfax - Pussy Riot punk band member Yekaterina Samutsevich, who is under arrest, has announced a hunger strike.
"As Katya's father told us, the jail staff did not accept the parcel he brought for her today under a pretext that Katya announced a hunger strike late last week," Samutsevich's lawyer Violetta Volkova told Interfax.
So far it is not clear what the hunger strike is about, the lawyer said.
"I'll be driving to the jail now. We were to have a routine visit of our clients today, but I don't know anything yet," the lawyer said.
On February 21, several members of the feminist Pussy Riot band (Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich), their faces covered by masks, performed an anti-Putin song inside the Christ the Savior's Cathedral.
A criminal case was opened on hooliganism charges.
