Dagestan border guard who shot colleagues could be Wahabi recruit - source

Moscow, August 29, Interfax - The border guard who shot his colleagues dead at a border outpost in Dagestan's Derbent District could have been recruited by the Wahabi insurgency, a Dagestan law enforcement source told Interfax.

"The preliminary information is that the border guard who opened fire against his fellow servicemen, had been recruited by bandits," the source said.

Seven army servicemen and officers from a special rapid response unit (SOBR) were killed in an armed incident at the special operations group's base in the village of Belidzhi in Dagestan's Derbent District.
