Chelyabinsk, February 19, Interfax - The meteorite fall in the Chelyabinsk Region is a sign of the coming end of times described in the Bible, representative of the Russian Union of Evangelical Christians (Pentecostals) in the region Alexander Pashchenko believes.
"I'm sure that it is God's sign, an omen," he said in his statement conveyed to Interfax-Religion on Tuesday.
The pastor cited the Gospels according to Luke who quotes words of Jesus about signs of His second coming: "There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."
"Jesus told us about everything that is happening today. Terrific tsunamis of the recent times, changes in the Sun scientists are crying about, meteorite fall - all these are signs of Jesus' prophecy coming into life.
The bishop is sure that there will be "more cataclysms". He urged Christians to "act today" preaching Christ's teaching.
