Moscow, June 22, Interfax - Attempts of schismatic associations to establish a Local Church of Ukraine are doomed to failure, head of press service of the Moscow Patriarchate Ukrainian Orthodox Church Vasily Anisimov believes.
As was reported, in June two unrecognized in the Orthodox world strictures, the so-calledKiev Patriarchateand the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church announced their intentions to call up a unifying council on September 14.
"It is ridiculous from the legal point of view, statutes of these organizations do not have positions on associations, liquidation. It is necessary to hold "local councils" of these strictures, to introduce changes in statutes documents. Then they should hold a constitutive council, to set up a new office, register it anew, and to do a thousand thing no one will ever do," Anisimov said in his interview withInterfax-Religionon Monday.
He believes it a provocation that bishops of the Constantinople Church took part in sessions of schismatic commissions, considering the fact that the Constantinople Patriarch as well as primates of other local Churches urges Ukrainian schismatics to come back to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
"Is it possible to imagine that two our bishops arrive in Constantinople to local schismatics, and would try to set up a local Church there, though the Local Church has existed there for ages," the interviewee of the agency wonders.
He paid special attention to the time chosen for setting up "next Russophobe group" - "when people are exhausted by continuous bloodshed."
